Mitt Romney, the republican presidential hopeful made clear his opinion in regards to online gambling.
As many know, Romney is a true conservative when it comes to family and faith values.
Mr. Romney said he is not in favor of gambling as it affects people's lives and he will not encourage such activity, especially as he feels there is too much gambling taking place already.
Such statements seem odd coming from someone who is being supported by land based casino magnate Donald Trump.
Trump, who is in the casino business, is preparing for the legalization of online gambling in the United States. He feels that the USA is being too slow in getting the process up and running, while other countries are moving fast and making things happening.
Ron Paul, a repeat candidate and a republican has a different point of view than his counterpart Romney, saying that people should be free to live their lives and spend their money as they feel fit. Paul was an advocate of changes to be made to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2025, in favor of legalizing online gambling.
Rich Muny, the Poker Players Alliance Executive Vice President of Player Relations, responded to Romney saying that with a fully licensed and regulated online gambling business, issues like under age betting, gambling addiction and customer protection would be spotted and promptly dealt with. But with the current situation, there is no such line of defense for consumers.
Romney is said to be the runner up against current President Obama. As a strong contender, he might want to review his stance on the online gambling matter as even if he does not approve it, it is a fact that online gambling is becoming a reality in the United States.
